The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education is the West Bengal State Government administered autonomous examining authority for the Standard 12 examination of West Bengal. The council was established through the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, Act 1975 to regulate the educational system at 10+2 level. West bengal Council of higher secondary education is responsible for conducting examination for the evaluation at Higher Secondary level, it also provides the curriculum, syllabus, the courses of studies, and prescribes the text books etc. Every year more than 7 Lakh students participate in the West Bengal Council of higher secondary education – board examination.


Important Highlights

The Higher Secondary course consists of two parts; Class XI and Class XII. The academic session for class XI starts from June every year and the academic session for class XII starts from May every year.

Exam Pattern

The council announced the Class XII result on 30th May 2017. The overall pass percentage was 84.20%, slightly better than last year’s 83.45%. Archisman Panigrihi from Hooghly became the topper with 99.2%, while Mayank Chattopadhyay also from Hooghly and Upamanyu Chakraborty from Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission became the joint 2nd toppers. Subham Sinha and Surjit Lohar with 97.8% jointly became the third toppers.
